Watercolor Intensive with Wendy Soneson
Beginners learn everything about watercolor in one week, while advanced students get to indulge in their favorite activity full time. Like summer camp for grown-ups, this week is always full of surprises and joy.

Landscapes: Intensive Oil Painting with Kim Mellema
Students learn the basics of oil painting in a focused and supportive environment. Open to both beginners and those with experience. Focus will be on observation and composition of still lifes and landscapes. Students will look at how different light sources change the local color of objects.

Life Drawing Open Studio Drop-In

Designed for the artist who wishes to work from a live model in a comfortable atmosphere. Bring your own supplies. No instruction.

Nuno Felting Intensive
Instructor: Ramune Jauniskis
Nuno felting is the process of adhering the finest merino fibers to silk gauze through a moisture and agitation technique. This is a wonderful new art form that is easy and results in complex layered fabrics. Students can make functional items such as scarves, bags, and clothing, or artistic wall hangings.

Botanical Drawing: Intensive

Learn to realistically capture the natural color and texture of flowers using pencil and watercolor techniques. Fine-tune your observation skills as you learn how to draw flowers and plants with attention to detail and color accuracy. Explore light and shade, form, and color mixing. Numerous demonstrations and individual attention included. All abilities welcome. Limited to 10.

Anatomy of Animals: Intensive

Have fun rendering animals from photos with realistic likeness using graphite pencils. Focusing on textures such as fur, feathers, scales you will master the facial expressions, natural patterns, and the unique characteristics of animals. Explore basic drawing using shape, form, lines, shade, proportions, and anatomy. Subjects are student driven. Numerous demonstrations and individual attention, all abilities welcome.

The Basics of Drawing

Using careful observation and deconstruction of subjects, learn the fundamentals of drawing. Through shading, cross-hatching, and perspective students will discover how to create the illusion of texture and dimension. Lessons include line drawing, sketching, and gesture drawing. Enjoy the basics of drawing in a relaxed and informal class that easily inspires new or returning artists.

Comics for Adults

Revitalize your drawing by incorporating new levels of thinking and observation into your compositions. Lessons will include how to develop strong characters and supernatural scenes. Figure and Abstraction with Bob Collins

This class is designed to invigorate your drawing and/or painting. Bob has combined his most popular courses into one special summer workshop that will offer beginners and advanced students an opportunity to study the figure as well as qualities of abstract painting. Alternating between drawing and painting lesson students will enjoy a review of the basics while honing new skills. Lesson will include still lifes, landscapes, portraiture and the figure.

Beginning Oil Painting

Learn the basic methods and secrets of oil painting through demonstrations, guidance, and class exercises. Students will study light and learn the techniques of the masters. Relief Printing

Wednesdays, 7:00pm–9:00pm
Learn low tech relief printing methods to create art in multiples, 1 to keep and lots to give away or sell. Several techniques will be introduced, including collographs and linoleum block printing. Create knock out holiday cards or follow in the footsteps of Picasso and create fine art. Limited to 10.

Jewelry & Metalsmithing, all levels

Learn to make beautiful jewelry with an introduction to metalsmithing techniques. Your teacher will guide you to shape, polish, solder, pierce, etch and embellish jewelry in copper and brass. Make earrings, bracelets, brooches, boxes and more. Teachers may also introduce hollow forms, stone setting, stone inlay, repoussé and reticulation. Projects vary with experience level. Silver available for a small additional fee. Limited to 6.

This weeklong class will explore the different types of metals used in Metalsmithing. Techniques include shaping, polishing, soldering, piercing, etching and embellishing in copper and brass. Enameling, Open to ages 14+
Instructor: Margaret Langdell
Enameling is the process of fusing glass onto metal. Enamels are available in a rainbow of colors, as well as small glass “flower” chips and decal sheets. Suitable for beginners to advanced students. In this class, students learn the principles of metal preparation, enamel application and finishing processes. Returning students can explore new techniques, or continue working on projects of their own design. Students may enroll in one or more sections. Limited to 6.

Wheelthrowing all levels
Beginner classes focus on wheel throwing fundamentals. Intermediate and advanced classes allow students to expand their repertoire of forms. The intermediate class focuses on quality of design and execution. All levels will learn about glazes, underglazes, slips, and decorating techniques. Demonstrations include plates, lids, handles, altered forms, and throwing off the hump. Students are encouraged to explore their own interests and work at their own pace on individual projects. Limited to 6.

Batik

With its colorful, marbled effects, batik offers a variety of possibilities for decorating fabric. Batik is made with richly colored dyes and designs painted in wax. You can express your unique style in scarves and other clothing, pillows and other household decorations, wall hangings, sculpture or greeting cards with this inspiring medium. Drop-in is optional for repeat students.

Sculpting with Paper

Learn how to transform flat papers into 3-D sculptures. The course will cover a variety of methods to build light yet sturdy structures. Students will explore color, space and technique and develop their sculptural talents with this versatile material. Working with box-cutters, paper cutting knives and various types of paper students will design and build a sculpture that is sure to impress.
