    Beginner Painting, ages 9-13

    In this beginner's class, students will learn the fundamentals of painting while studying traditional and contemporary painters. Lessons will include color theory and basic techniques such as layering and highlighting. Working from still life, students will learn to break down objects to simple forms, then build in details. This class will provide the knowledge and confidence to tackle painting; beginning with acrylics and progressing to oils.

    How to Draw Manga, ages 14+

    Want to know how Chobits, Inuyasha and Spiderman are sketched and set into complex adventures? Then this is the class for you. We will examine the conventions in character design, motion, storytelling, and setting. Using basic and advanced drawing techniques, students will create this exciting genre in their own style, while broadening their artistic skills.

    Comics, ages 8+

    Master the steps needed to make your own comic book. Learn character design, plotting and perspective. You will master all the tricks to creating a dynamic page turner. All you need is paper, pencils and a vivid imagination! Beginner and advanced students are welcome. Limited to 10.

    Fantasy & Folk: Drawing & Painting

    In this class students will refine their skills in drawing and painting while populating their worlds with fantastic characters. Working with colored pencil, ink, watercolor, and mixed media, students will learn to accurately render magical landscapes, playful still lifes and mystical figures.

    Jewelry & Metalsmithing: A Metals Sampler

    Learn to make beautiful jewelry with an introduction to metalsmithing techniques. Your teacher will guide you to shape, polish, solder, pierce, etch and embellish jewelry in copper and brass. You can make earrings, bracelets, brooches, boxes and more. Teachers will also introduce hollow forms, stone setting, stone inlay, repouss� and reticulation. Projects vary with experience level and teachers. Silver available for a small additional fee. Limited to 6.

    Bookworms, ages 4-6

    In this fun, creative class students will turn their favorite stories into artwork! From Eric Carle to Maurice Sendak to Dr. Suess, every class will begin with a favorite book in group story time and will be followed by age-appropriate and themed projects. The perfect chance to give your pre-school aged child a creative head start!

    Pottery & Wheelthrowing

    Learn about the creative possibilities of clay. These classes will introduce students to hand-building techniques and the basics of wheelthrowing. Students will develop sensory skills, an understanding of balance and concepts of textures. Both individual and group instruction will be available. All projects will be kiln fired. Limited to 8.

    Work creatively one-on-one with your child. 
We will use a variety of traditional art and household materials and will explore these in an open, expressive environment. There will be lively music, singing, and creative movement. Limited to 12 pairs. Each tot must be accompanied by an adult.

    Explore Warhol, Lichtenstein, and their bright fun artwork while you print and paint your own inspired pop art!

    Take a look at the cityscapes around us, especially the Boston skyline. We will observe the structures and styles of different buildings and use our observation to draw and paint our own city skylines.

    Recycled Art

    Create eco-friendly works of art! Projects will include mosaics and sculptures built from recyclable materials.

    August 10 - 14

    Aztec World

    Learn about this ancient culture by making Aztec coins, mask and pyramids and building traditional Aztec games.

    Wild West

    Saddle up and take a ride out to the frontier. We�ll take a look at life in the 19th century, the Land Runs, and the Gold Rush!

    Summer Studios

    Ages 10-16
    Mon. - Thur., 10am - 2pm

    Summer Studios is a two week program that offers young artists the opportunity to study drawing, painting, and ceramics in a focused, creative environment. After gaining familiarity and proficiency with pencil, brush, and clay, the student will be inspired to use these media for personal creative expression. Students study two hours of drawing and painting, and two hours of ceramics each day. Bring a lunch for the break. When you call to register, please specify age group: Ages 10-12 or Ages 13-16. Limited to 8 per age group.

    This class will explore the different types of metals used in metalsmithing. Techniques include shaping, soldering, piercing, etching and embellishing in copper and brass. Silver available for a small additional fee. Limited to 6.
