Assistant in Training

We are pleased to announce our third Assistant in Training Program. This program is for individuals ages 14-16 who are interested in developing classroom and teaching skills while working with children ages 5-11 in the arts. The program runs during the Summer Session.


Under the guidance of experienced BAC teachers, Assistants in Training will have the opportunity to work directly with students and assist teachers during art classes. If you are interested in becoming a future teaching assistant or teacher in the arts, this is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience.


Assistants in Training will develop skills in greeting and welcoming children and families, establishing relationships with children, supporting the facilitation of activities and fostering engagement. Students in this program will learn to be observant and support the teacher and teaching assistant with preparations for art lessons, including activity set-up and clean-up.


Sessions: Assistants in Training must be available Monday-Friday, 8:45am-4:15pm for their entire session. All sessions are two weeks in length. No customized sessions will be allowed. Sessions are as follows:

  • July 10-July 21
  • July 24-August 4


Requirements: Must be available for an in person interview and orientation. Assistants in Training are required to attend all days of their session and participate in weekly training meetings. Assistant in Training positions are limited. Prior experience working with school age children in a classroom/child care environment and knowledge of art materials and general care of studio space is preferred.


Cost: $150/session
