Spring Children's Classes Ages 8-12

 

Form and Sculpture

Day: Monday

Time: 3:30-5:30pm

In this introduction to three-dimensional form, students learn basic techniques such as building a base, relief carving and casting. Project materials will range from clay to metal wire to plaster. No class 4/17 and 5/29. April 3-June 5

 

 

Clayworks

Explore the versatility of clay! Students will learn basic handbuilding techniques including pinching, coil building and slab work, while creating small sculptures and functional pieces for use. Along with clay construction, introductory wheelthrowing and methods of glazing and surface decoration will be introduced. No class 4/18, 4/20, 4/29, 5/13, or 5/27. April 4-June 6 (T), March 30-June 1 (TH), April 1-June 3 (S)

 

 

Draw Like a Pro

Strengthen your drawing skills in this fun and challenging class. Through a series of weekly exercises and sketchbook practice, students will polish their ability to render the world around them. Children will explore different drawing materials and techniques including cartooning, drawing from observation, proportional drawing and more. No class 4/18. April 4-June 6

 

 

Paint Like a Pro

Day: Wednesday

Time: 3:30-5:30pm

In this foundation class, students will learn to use their creative thinking skills and explore various painting materials and techniques. Students will work from still life, nature and their imaginations to develop their technical skills and gain visual awareness that will serve as a framework for future arts education. This is a great follow-up to Draw Like a Pro! No class 4/19. March 29-May 31

 

 

Mixed Media Illustration (Postponed)

Explore fun and innovative ways to expand on your illustrations! Projects will focus on visual storytelling through contemporary form while incorporating a variety of materials. Learn how to collage and paint, deconstruct and built up in this studio-style class. No class 4/20. April 6-June 8

 

 

Characters and Comics (FULL)

Day: Friday

Time: 3:30-5:30pm

Class Fee: $195

This class will focus on character development and storytelling. Over the session, we will experiment with different illustration techniques and design a cast of characters. Through drawing and writing exercises, we will develop our characters' personalities, backstories and create the world they live in. No class 4/14, 4/21 or 5/12. March 31-June 2
