The Brookline Arts Center had a successful 33rd Annual Crafts Showcase, raising funds for the Center while providing the community with a selection of fine arts and crafts for sale. This year the Crafts Showcase added a new program called the Yearwood Gift Program, in which participating artists donated a one-of-kind handmade gifts for residents of the Yearwood House.
This year the Crafts Showcase also welcomes and thanks our new event sponsor the Fireplace Restaurant. The restaurant donated a total of $2,500 in food and beverages during the Preview Reception and Jazz Brunch. The Fireplace Restaurant. is a New England grill with an emphasis on wood-smoked and rotisserie dishes, run by community-minded Chef Jim Solomon.
The Preview Reception and the Jazz Brunch played host to Brookline’s art lovers and foodies. As the kick off event for Crafts Showcase, the Preview Reception welcomed new and returning artists, including Luca Ricco. Ricco, architect and watercolor artist, offered his second solo exhibition at the Brookline Arts Center. Guests enjoyed fine food and live holiday music by Anders Vercelli.. In addition to selling fine arts and crafts, the Craft Showcase hosts the Jazz Brunch Art Treasures Awards, during which two community members are honored for their outstanding dedication to the community and Brookline Arts Center. This years honorees were Brookline Booksmith co-owner Dana Brigham and BAC faculty member Margaret Langdell. The brunch provided a time for community members to reflect on the year while swinging to the jazzy tunes of Tom Pendergast. See photos from the morning ceremony and brunch taken by Pat Goeters.
