32nd Annual Crafts Showcase Coming Soon to the Brookline Arts Center

The Brookline Arts Center will present its 32nd annual Crafts Showcase from November 30, 2006 through December 17, 2006. During this time, the public will be able to view and purchase handmade crafts from artisans across the country, finding unique gifts for the holiday season.

Approximately 80-100 craftspeople will exhibit at this year’s Crafts Showcase, all hand-selected by a jury of artists, collectors and designers with the Brookline Arts Center. Merchandise at the Crafts Showcase will include jewelry, glassware, ceramics, Christmas ornaments and Hanukkah items, kitchenware, clothing and many more gift items.

Crafts Showcase is open from Thursdays to Sundays during the three weeks of November 30 through December 17, from noon to 6 pm, and until 8 pm on Thursday nights. Admission is free during regular Showcase hours.

The Brookline Arts Center, a non-profit community art center founded in 1964, offers art exhibitions and classes in painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery, and jewelry for adults and children. Its teaching staff is comprised of working professional artists. The Crafts Showcase is a major fundraiser for the Brookline Arts Center. Money raised by art sales will help to support art classes, scholarships and cultural events.

There will also be two fundraising special events in conjunction with Crafts Showcase. The Preview Reception on Wednesday, November 29, will allow guests to be the first to see the Showcase merchandise and meet some of the artists. A Jazz Brunch on Sunday, December 10, caps the event. Tickets for both events may be purchased in advance by calling 617-566-5715.

About the BAC: The non-profit Brookline Arts Center began 40 years ago in the basement of a Brookline home and in 1968 moved to its present home, a former firehouse. The Gallery was opened in 2002, and presents exhibitions and educational events each month. The Brookline Arts Center is funded in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
