Brookline Senior Artists from Brookline Arts Center's ArtReach Classes Exhibit their Work In the BAC Gallery during June and July

The Brookline Arts Center Gallery will present Watercolor Paintings by ArtReach students: an exhibition by the senior citizen class taught at the Brookline Housing Authority under the auspices of the Brookline Arts Center's ArtReach Program. The exhibition will be on view from June 23 through July 23, 2004.

The ARTreach program at Brookline Arts Center was founded to foster individual creative expression, and to connect communities through the visual arts. It brings free classes to children and senior citizens in their neighborhood at the Brookline Housing Authority, making it easy for them to enter the world of art. These artists are encouraged to share their work with the community through exhibitions. After the exhibition ends at the BAC gallery, Watercolor Paintings by ArtReach Students will travel to public spaces in the Brookline Housing Authority.

Throughout the year the BAC collaborates with numerous and diverse organizations and businesses in order to create special programs and classes. ARTreach involves a close collaboration with the Brookline Public Housing Authority. It has also become a resource for Brookline groups who want to display artwork by youth or seniors. The program is funded through grants from the Nehemias Gorin Foundation and the Mourning Dove Foundation, and through business sponsorship and individual gifts.

The Brookline Arts Center is located at 86 Monmouth Street. The exhibition is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the exhibition is free. For more information, call 617-566-5715 or visit www.brooklineartscenter.com. The programs of the Brookline Arts Center are sponsored in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Brookline Commission for the Arts and the Brookline Community Fund.
