Lively Reception for Farmers' Market at Brookline Arts Center Features Food from Local Social Venture
When artists Phyllis Cohen and Anita Jamieson welcome guests to their exhibition Farmers' Market, Watercolors for the Senses on Friday, May 12, at 5:30 p.m., the celebration will include special food: Mexican snacks provided by a social venture company called Tacos Unidos.
Tacos Unidos is a project of the Chelsea non-profit group Roca; it employs low-income and high-risk young adults from Chelsea, Revere and East Boston. With its catering and restaurant operations, the Tacos Unidos Social Venture program teaches job skills and job readiness.
"Our art receptions are always an opportunity to celebrate community and creativity," according to Susan Navarre, Brookline Arts Center Executive Director. "We are looking forward to an extraordinary evening of fun celebrating our artists' talent."
"Farmers' Market: Watercolors for the Senses" featuring Anita Jamieson and Phyllis Cohen is on view at the Arts Center until May 26, 2006. Exhibition hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The exhibition will also be on view during Brookline Artists Open Studios, on May 20 - 21, 2006.
