Redemptions
September 27-November 1, 2019
Reception: Thursday, October 3, 6:00-8:00pm

The Brookline Arts Center is pleased to present Redemptions by Martin R. Anderson.

Artist Statement:

“‘I once was lost, but now am found…’    Amazing Grace

In all art there is a process of both transformation and redemption.

I find objects that are:

lost/abandoned/discarded/ignored/runover/broken/unloved/shunned/
trashed/overlooked/bad/used/forgotten/misplaced/deformed/defaced/
disgraced/ditched/repudiated/scrapped/forsaken/isolated/vulgar.

I rescue these singular orphans and, in the company of others, frame them as
icons of the city.

They become:

loved/favored/honored/sanctified/celebrated/good/embraced/reclaimed/
discovered/remembered/recovered/renewed/rescued/restored/
highlighted/feted/revered/adored/admired/beatified/elevated/venerated/
holy/resurrected.”
