The Brookline Arts Center is pleased to present Chemical Exchanges. The exhibition features work that employs either traditional metalsmithing techniques such as jewelry and sculptural forms or more unconventional materials and approaches. Works include 2D, 3D, sculpture, installation, sound and material.

A chemical exchange represents the transfer of a nucleus from one molecular environment to another: wood into gas, food to energy, metallic alloys into sonically resonant material. The transformation of the Brookline Chemical Fire House to a center for the visual arts is an example of a metaphoric chemical exchange, one which ensures further creative propagation.

Selected artists include Catherine Armistead, Harry Cassell, Mia Fabrizio, Allison Geremia, Michael Lake, Junie Levine, Virginia Mahoney, Barbara Marder, Tracy Mastro, Ponnapa Prakkamakul, Jenne Rayburn, Kailey Robinson, Keith Tornheim, William Vanaria, Lillian Webster, and Katherine Wildman.
