Artist Statement

Beadcraft Etc’s Barbara Trainer & Monica Fairbairn have been creating unusual and differing styles of jewelry designs for 10 years. For Barbara, each piece is inspired by the unusual components she chooses—fine silver and other semi-precious metals & wire, colorful fired clay, hand-blown glass, and an array of beads & semi-precious stones. Her work isn’t one niche but many, to keep her pieces fresh & unusual. For Monica, her work is inspired by the South American Tagua nut, in colorful, vibrant combinations—in slices, cubes, rondelles & whole nuts paired with striking components to make them utterly unique pieces.

Beadcraft Etc’s other standard venues include Newton Open Studios, Watertown Open Studios, Jamaica Plain and Roslindale Open Studios, Old South Church Christmas Craft Fair as well as other art/craft shows around the greater Boston area, North Shore, and Metro West areas. They were charter members of the former Dedham Square Artist Guild. Custom designs and repair work are also available.
