Like most people, I’ve spent more time at home during the last six months than I possibly could have imagined. So as I began assembling images for this first Virtual Brookline Open Studios, my thoughts turned to the times I’ve been away from home. At such times, I’m most likely to have my camera at hand, on the prowl for images to capture. Fortunately, up until recently, I’ve been able to travel quite a bit, ranging from places nearby, like Cape Cod and Western Massachusetts to ones further afar, such as California, Central America, Turkey and Greece. Unlike in my previous Open Studios exhibits, the images shown here aren’t encompassed by a unifying theme. Instead, they recall some of the wonderful experiences I’ve had while traveling and represent a hope that I’ll have more such opportunities.
My selections fall into two broad categories: people with their infinite variety of expressions, actions and moods; and concrete reminders that people have left in their absence.
One of the most difficult challenges in assembling just a few images for display is selecting ones that might interest others. If you’d like to see a few more candidate images, please visit Google Photos.
