Brookline Senior Center Artist
Acrylic on Canvas
For the first 65 years of my life I had never thought that I would be able to draw. But one day a mystical event happened, and I began painting.
On my birthday I was given a small bouquet of my favorite flowers, lilies of the valley. After a few days, I saw them withering and became greatly disappointed. I took a sheet of regular paper, pencils that we kept for our grandchildren, and somehow managed to draw that bunch of flowers. I showed the picture to my friends who liked it and encouraged me to draw more.
I began to read books about painting and started attending a drawing class at the Brookline Arts Center. Now I like to draw landscapes and from time to time participate in exhibits. There are some ladies who became my friends. We are drawing together and helping each other. Painting greatly helps me in my life; when I am painting I forget about all my troubles. I am drawing for my soul.
