Pastel, Watercolor, Acrylic Painting
A native New Yorker, Miriam Aaronson is now a Massachusetts-based artist. After years of drawing without instruction, she began formal training twenty years ago, beginning with watercolors. She then moved on to pastels and, more recently, acrylics and oil paints. She has exhibited at juried shows, art fairs and libraries, and has won several first prizes and lesser awards for her paintings.
In addition to still lifes, Miriam is excited by street scenes, landscapes and buildings, the more tumbledown the better. Her travels in Italy, France and England have served as rich sources for the subject matter.
The paintings presented are executed in watercolor, acrylic and pastels. The subjects include still lifes, landscapes, urban scenes and seascapes in England, France, Italy and the United States. The city scenes consist chiefly of dilapidated, old or exotic buildings. The styles are impressionistic and realistic.
