Artist Statement

I have been a bag maker working on my craft of crochet, structured fabric, and leather bags for many years. I run my bespoke handbag design shop from my website, whyteindigo.com. I also work as a freelance writer and web designer at my other day job. I use mostly upcycled materials for bag production. I am a big supporter of repurposing fabrics. According to the EPA, 15 million tons of used textile waste is generated every year in the United States, and most synthetic fabrics can take hundreds of years to decompose. Only 15 percent of those textiles are recycled, but 100 percent of all used textiles and clothing generated can be recycled! So I think it is important for me as someone working in fashion accessories to do my part to reduce, reuse and recycle! While most of my creations are custom made, I do show up occasionally at craft markets in the Boston area selling some pre-made bags.

Items can be purchased at the Etsy shop link above. To inquire about custom-made bags, Handbag Christmas Tree Ornaments, and other information, email info@whyteindigo.com.
