Create Space

Create Space. As we continue to move through the challenging stages of the pandemic, the Brookline Arts Center proudly works to create safe virtual and in-person spaces for self-expression, imagination, and community.

As we move towards a healthier tomorrow, the Brookline Arts Center remains committed to providing a space for arts education. And though we have returned to in-person programming, we still need your help until we can operate at full capacity. Give today to continue the legacy of accessible arts experiences and help us create space for growth and opportunity as we build a better future together. Your gift will ensure that there will always be a space in Brookline for creativity to thrive and that the next sixty years will be just as inspiring as the last.

After over a year in isolation, the BAC worked hard to bring the community back together. For young students attending our summer ArtVentures classes, this meant working to bridge the gap between home and school, especially for those just beginning to explore the world outside of quarantine. For our teens, who spent the past year logging into school from their bedrooms, the BAC cultivated a place for connection and healthy self-expression. Even for our adult community, struggling to re-enter an unstable world, we sought to provide refuge from the isolation through the light and laughter of collective artmaking. Our gallery shows and public art exhibitions also provided an opportunity for accessible artistic experiences for the whole community as we sought to bring playfulness and joy back to the heart of Brookline.

Though we have faced unprecedented challenges we have also seen incredible strides made by students coming together again. One of our summer success stories came from a young girl who, due to the pandemic, was attending in-person classes for the first time. “She was hesitant about going to camp for the first time, but the staff at BAC went above and beyond to help her feel comfortable and ready to participate. She ended up enjoying art camp so much that I signed her up for an extra week, at her request! I was especially grateful for the extra time staff took to talk with me about camp, introduce us to the BAC facility, and connect with my daughter. I also appreciated the staff’s attention to health and safety. Our experience was so lovely that I now sing BAC’s praises to friends and neighbors, and am planning to sign up for a winter class myself. We’re really looking forward to coming back!”
