Part-time Position

We are seeking an art teacher to work with children ages 5-12 for a variety of classes beginning this fall. The teacher will be responsible for providing overall class goals and objectives, developing class content and curriculum within the framework of the BAC’s programs, and providing a nurturing environment for children and families. Class dates and descriptions areas follows:

Build it! | Ages 8-12
Mondays (9 wks), September 23 –December 9 from 3:30-5:30pm (no class September 30, October 14 or November 11)
Class Description: Students will take on the role of artist-engineer, bringing their own ideas from paper to 3D in a guided studio class environment. Past favorite projects include dream tree houses, mini-cities, marble runs and more.

Art and Culture | Ages 5-7
Tuesdays (11wks), September 24–December 3 from 3:30-5:30pm
Class Description: Travel the globe through the arts of other cultures! Children will learn about history and explore the vast range of rich artistic traditions around the world.

Out of the Frame | Ages 5-7
Thursdays (10wks), September 26 –December 12 from 3:30-5:30pm
Class Description: Thinking outside of the box is what artists do best. In this class, we will learn about some of the greatest artistic “rule-breakers” and learn to break some rules ourselves!* We will use only the strangest tools for painting, make “moving” portraits and sculpt creations out of the most unconventional materials. *Art rules only.

Friday Creative Time | Ages 5-12
Fridays (8 wks) September 27 –December 13 from 2:00-3:30pm (No class October 18, November 8, November 22 or November 29)
Class Description: Kick-start your weekend with art at the BAC! In this hour-and-a-half long session, we will design creative inventions, make imaginative sculptures and paint scenes from our favorite stories. Enjoy an early art class with plenty of play-time left in the day.

Wham! Pow! Art! | Ages 5-7
Fridays (8 wks) September 27 –December 13 from 2:00-3:30pm (No class October 18, November 8, November 22 or November 29)
Class Description: In this class, students will explore the world of comic book art through a variety of projects involving drawing, painting and mixed media. We will bring our own characters to life, create heroes and villains and learn about storytelling, paneling and animation!

  • Experience teaching and creating curriculum for children aged 12 and under.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of general safety rules and basic first aid.
  • Professional and patient.
  • Ability to interact with and engage children and families.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and individually.
  • Knowledge of art materials and general care of studio space.
  • MA in Art Education preferred or equivalent work experience.
