Wearable Art: A gallery celebration of Mika Hornyak
March 5 - March 19| Free
The Brookline Arts Center is requesting submissions from local, wearable art designers and artists for our
upcoming exhibition in honor of our late board chair, Mika Hornyak. The exhibition will take place this
March of 2022 and will include a celebratory, hybrid opening reception.
This show is inspired by one of Mika’s great enthusiasms: wearable art. All media and types of wearable
art including jewelry, accessories, clothing, etc. will be considered. Submissions will be reviewed by our
guest juror, Lillian Lambrechts, recently retired Bank of America Senior Vice President, Manager of
Corporate Art Program, and Global Head Curator.
In addition to celebrating Mika and the many forms of wearable art, we also hope to raise money to
support Mika’s passion for supporting artists. Items from the exhibition will be for sale, with 40%
commission taken for the BAC to put towards the Mika Hornyak Artist Fund, benefitting artists
collaborating and exhibiting with the Brookline Arts Center. The funds will go towards prizes for the
juried exhibits; stipends for our artists’ residency; and honoraria for artists who support the BAC by
contributing their work and time.
This exhibit and event will take place at the Annex Gallery in the Brookline Arts Center at 86 Monmouth
Street, Brookline MA 02446.
