This class combines techniques in drawing with methods in illustration such as drafting, composition and character design and rendering with color. Sharpen skills like shading, cross-hatching and perspective and have the chance to tell your own visual stories! Both realistic and animated styles will be explored.

ANIMATION AT THE BROOKLINE TEEN CENTER

In this class, we will develop characters and comics with a three-dimensional twist! Students will bring their drawn characters to life using sculpey clay, found materials and sewing techniques. They will then have the opportunity to experiment with short stop-motion animation of their creations. No class 11/27.

NOTE: This class meets at the Brookline Teen Center. Students must be in middle school to attend.

This class focuses on wheelthrowing and handbuilding fundamentals. The teacher will provide you with step by step instructions and demonstrations to help you create unique clay objects. Demonstrations include cups, vases, plates, lids, throwing off the hump and more. All levels will learn about decorating techniques. Additional clay is available for purchase ($25/bag).

Learn the fundamentals of painting, including color mixing, building layers and utilizing various brush strokes. This course explores plein air painting, still-life and personal projects. Students will work primarily in oils and also have the chance to try acrylics and watercolors.

Enameling is the process of fusing glass onto metal. Enamels are available in a rainbow of colors, as well as small glass flower chips and decal sheets. In this class, students are introduced to the principles of metal preparation, enamel application and finishing process. All levels welcome!
