The BAC invites artists residing in New England to submit work for Chemical Exchanges employing either traditional metalsmithing techniques such as jewelry and sculptural forms or more unconventional materials and approaches. A chemical exchange represents the transfer of a nucleus from one molecular environment to another: wood into gas, food to energy, metallic alloys into sonically resonant material. The transformation of the Brookline Chemical Fire House to a center for the visual arts is an example of a metaphoric chemical exchange, one which ensures further creative propagation. Please include work that references this exchange of energy as described above in your proposal. Works can include 2D, 3D, sculpture, installation, sound and material.
All artists residing in New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont) are eligible to submit work. All applications must be entered online through the BAC’s submission form. Up to six pieces of original artwork can be submitted.
