This class focuses on wheel throwing and hand-building fundamentals. The teacher will provide you with step-by-step instructions and demonstrations to help you create unique clay objects. Demonstrations include cups, vases, plates, lids, throwing off the hump, and more. All levels will learn about decorating techniques. Additional clay is available for purchase ($25/bag)

Make beautiful jewelry with instruction from a working artist. They will guide you to shape, polish, solder, pierce, etch and embellish jewelry in copper and brass. Hollow forms, stones settings, stone inlay, repousse, and reticulations will also be introduced.

Landscape Painting (Adults)

Painters of all levels of experience are welcome to join us for this skill-building class all about painting the landscape. Drawing inspiration from artists of the past and present, learn how to build a landscape painting through color mixing, layering techniques, and brushstrokes. Capture the essence of natural scenery, create depth in your compositions, and explore your painting process by working on a variety of surfaces with a range of painting media.

Creativity Workshop (Adults)

Do you enjoy making visual art, but aren’t always sure how to begin the creative process? This class will ignite your creative spark, guiding you to begin the process of uncovering your own artistic language. Each week will present you with a new creative challenge or prompt designed to encourage exploration and interpretation. We’ll experiment in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media using both traditional and non-traditional artist tools and materials.

Join us for an immersive experience of painting and drawing. Explore both experimental techniques and art historical methods of painting and drawing, try different traditional genres and subjects like portrait, landscape, still life, and dive into abstraction too! Spark your imagination with inspiring exercises that you can add to your daily routine to sharpen your skills, cultivate creating thinking, and boost mindfulness.

Description: Enameling is the process of fusing glass onto metal. Enamels come in a rainbow of colors, as well as small glass flower chips and decal sheets. Students are introduced to the principles of metal preparations, enamel application and finishing process. All levels are welcome!

Do you need some extra time in the Pottery Studio, or want to experiment on a new project? Stop by for open studio time! Open Studio time does not include instruction. You must have taken at least one BAC Ceramic Course in order to qualify. The pass can be used during two consecutive sessions, beginning with the session in which it was purchased. In this case, passes purchased for the Summer 2022 session will be valid for the Summer 2022 – Fall 2022 sessions. Please note that you may only attend Open Studios if you have registered for with a 10-class pass and have reserved your space. Reservation is first-come, first-served until space is full and can only be reserved by emailing office@brooklineartscenter.com. Please read our Reservation policies below.

This class is an introduction to jewelry making and metalsmithing. The teacher will provide you with step-by-step instructions and demos, covering techniques such as soldering, piercing, and embellishing in copper and brass. Projects will include a variety of options including bangles with stamped charms, beaded charms, wire and bead earrings, rings, cuff bracelets, and more!

Grab a friend, family member, or partner for an entertaining night of painting! Join us for a fun evening of learning the process of acrylic painting. Get inspired by a seasonal theme, experiment with color mixing, and follow step-by-step instructions to create your own painting in one session. All levels of art experience are welcome and encouraged to attend. This event is BYOB. Food and beverages will not be provided, but participants are encouraged to provide their own.
