This spring we will be offering a variety of children classes starting as young as 18 months – 12 years old that will let your child’s creativity loose with the opportunity to try a variety of materials and art styles! Children can experiment in sculpture, ceramic, printmaking, painting, and more for unique and exciting creations. We promote artistic exploration while developing technique and critical-thinking skills. Classes start as young as 18months – 12 years old.

Artventures (Ages 5-7)

Artventures Week 1: Under the Sea

Dive deep as we explore crazy creatures, corals, and chasms on the ocean floors! From schools of fish to coral reefs to the monstrous giants of the sea, let’s explore the colors, textures and shapes that make up the underwater worlds that share our planet! Projects will include watercolor, mixed-media collages, 3D sculptures, and more!

Artventures Week 2: Art Through the Ages

Heroes and Villains, Knights and Dragons, brave adventures have filled stories throughout history! Let’s explore mythical creatures, fantasy characters, and heroic quests! Projects will include character design, 3D world dioramas, world-defying fantasy self-portraits, and more!

Back by popular demand, students will take on the role of artist-engineer in our “Build It” week. Using art skills and techniques paired with creative thinking and engineering, let’s explore materials in 3D! Do you love art but aren’t always sure how to get your artwork started? This class will ignite your creative spark, and help you to start making all kinds of art! Characters and Comics Workshop (ages 8-11)

Holy creative outlet, Batman! This weeklong intensive walks students through the process of brainstorming, developing, and creating their own unique comics stories. We’ll cover topics like character design, facial expressions, and story strategy, developing our skills through fun, no-experience-necessary exercises. Each student will end the week with a fully-executed graphic story to share with their friends and family – or launch their comics career!

Art of Ancient Egypt (ages 8-11)

Portraits Not Pictures (ages 8-11)

We all know a portrait is a picture that looks like a person – but how do artists make portraits that “feel” like their subjects as well? In this weeklong intensive, we will begin by learning basic strategies for drawing human features. Then, using ourselves, each other, and photographic references, we will explore the more creative side of portraiture: using materials, colors, and symbols to take a picture of a face and transform it into a portrait of a person.

Storytelling Studio (ages 8-11)

This week caters to students with stories to tell! Each day of this weeklong intensive will focus on a different kind of visual storytelling. From flip books to zines, children’s books to professional-style storyboards for comics or animation, this week is all about making stories we can see.

Painting Techniques and Styles (ages 8-11)

The fascinating world of painting is at your fingertips. Explore both experimental techniques and art historical methods of painting, try different traditional genres and subjects like portrait, landscape, still life, and get inspired by abstraction too!
